Maybe it is significant if a release doesn't bump player count, but 'gamer chooses new game over old game' is anything but.

These are 'live' games which will have future releases. There will be more chances to be the hot new release. Players migrating and sticking together as communities is good for all of us. Each release should be exciting enough to attract players.

There are so many great games coming out every month. If games need to capture 100% of my play time to be successful, then every game is competing with every new release. It encourages systems that reward time over mastery. It encourages disrespecting players' time.

Absolutely this. Jira can be utilized in a plethora of ways. I wouldn't ever wholeheartedly say I love or hate Jira without specifying where it was good/bad.
