Already dressed for work, I went walking on Franklin Street. Enjoying the North Carolina cold, thinking about that day in the snow above the cabin. Frozen and exhausted from fighting the waist-deep drifts, I broke a red-stop rule. I crawled into a hole beneath a tree to rest. Sometimes I wonder.
