As an intro: I'm a Data Analyst who specialises in data visualisation, insights & trend analysis, report writing & doing scout reports on players and teams. Basically, I indulge in Data on sports (mostly football) & business.

The finishing positions of Spurs & Man Utd last season can be termed as 'outliers', but United look no better so far this season in terms of results (even tho their underlying nos seem decent), while Spurs will have had an easyish start by playing Wol, Whu, Leeds & Burnley.

Some interesting insights can be gained by devising the difficulty level of the first seven games for each #PremierLeague team based on the finishing positions in 24/25.

Looking at that & then the game-state-based nos, it gives us a better idea overall.

Looking at this, I find two patterns:

- In 7 of the 9 games, the first change/s Slot has made has changed the personnel at fullback (no continuity in the back-line in a game).
- The first change/s is made at HT or before in 3 out of the 9 games.

After scoring the equaliser until the 86th minute (Endo substitution), Liverpool lost the ball 9 times in a space of 22 minutes - Gakpo lost it 4 times in that period with cheap give aways.
Yet, Slot thought it would be better take Mac Allister off and not the left winger. #LFC

7 shots in the 2nd half to 9 in the 1st half. We were supposed to chase the game in the 2nd half.

Btw Isak had 4 total touches in the 28 mins he was on the pitch. Yikes!! ##LFC

A reduction of almost two prog. passes received, >5% decrease in the proportion of touches in the opp. box.
But, receiving 1.4 more passes overall.

For me, #LFC forwards are receiving the ball/having touches too far from the goal. Still early in 25/26!

Analysis on how Arne Slot's 4-2-2-2 shape backfired in the 1st half vs C. Palace.
- Lack of width & midfield congestion
- Reverted to type at HT & the team got better
- Glasner's men did #LFC with simple football & aggression/duels.

The manager & the players need to learn from this. It is still early season. Just turning up won't give us wins. Kerkez is a young boy, he may need dropping to get his head in the right space. The defensive structure all over the place, Mac A looks unfit & Wirtz has to wake up. #LFC

With the Carabao Cup 4th Rd games added, here is the updated #LFC schedule until the first week of January, navigating the festive period.

Other than Man City away, PL games in the Nov-Dec period are winnable. Arne Slot would love to create a big gap before 7th January.

A tactical & data analysis of Ryan Gravenberch's evolution into a more all-round CM.

He has more influence on the team's attack without defensive sacrifice.
Positions as a pseudo 10 vs low-blocks are very interesting.

Liverpool lost possession 9 times in a 14-minute spell between half-time & the Everton goal. Slot then brought Curtis Jones on & some sort of control was restored. The Reds then lost the ball only 10 times in the subsequent 35 minutes. Good work from the manager. #LFC

Tactical plus data analysis of Liverpool's win over Atletico Madrid.

Ft. Gravenberch's position in the first 15 mins, having chances but not killing games, defensive tracking a slight issue, but late winners not "lucky".

Not for one to promote past work, but two years ago, when #LFC signed Gravenberch, I wrote an article on how number six could be one position he excels at Anfield.
Numbers & his attributes told me that. He is the league's best six on current form.
