Since 2000, significant changes in #LandCover generated negative impacts on #EcosystemServices and #Biodiversity, and irreversible expansion of built-up areas and infrastructure.

🌲 #OECD Partner countries lost over 130,000 km² of (semi-)natural land, mainly due to the expansion of artificial land and cropland, and mostly at the expense of tree cover.

#LandCover changes have major implications for #Biodiversity, affecting terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems worldwide. Advances in #EarthObservation data and computational methods now allow to track these changes with unprecedented accuracy.
