Ok, well now I have to give you a quick primer on professional athlete Kenny McLean (pictured below).

He's a technical attack-minded central mid, which is also the only role for which we have an abundance of quality, meaning he's spent much of his national team career as a sub.

Importantly this change in beliefs increases the probability that treated households have safer flour in their home at endlline- the intervention shifts purchasing behaviour, without affecting expenditures or other consumption

We then use this to design two information treatments where we tell people about the risk of contamination in formal & informal flour, enabling them to differentiate risk levels.

This shifts people's beliefs in treated households, as you can see in the CDFs below

We're going to take data from a related project monitoring aflatoxin levels in formally and informally produced maize flour in Kenya.

You can find details on how we do that in our paper here:

The contaminant we look at is aflatoxin, compounds produced by maize fungus that cause liver failure, cancer and are linked to stunting.

The kernels on the top left have low levels of aflatoxin, those on the right have high levels, but knowing that requires some very expensive equipment.

Claims that the environment and material prosperity are separate concerns are bunk.

Climate risk is already having major market impacts in the US.

Here is the cost to insure American households' #1 financial asset over the past decade (Keys & Mulder 2025):
