I am a professor in the College of Education at the Ohio State University. More important I am a Deweyan, which means in my case I see much of what goes on in the world through the lens created by John Dewey a century or so ago.
g at the end. I could not access the Marine core page. I don't see this as making the argument. And the gratuitous comments are really not attractive and don't add to your argument. Please something with a decent level of scholarship. Wikipedia is good but it doesn't support your argument.

But what about this says it is a symbol of Naziism. Perhaps you did not go to the Jen Lark response as I asked. Here is the wikipedia page on the symbol (which for some reason you overlook) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Totenkopf. No mention of it being a Nazi symbol. Dewey warns of history cherry pickin

I am sorry, I don't consider an ADL website reliable. I currently consider them one of the worst, most unreliable organizations in the US (I am Jewish). I don't understand why you directed me to the Panzer division. Yes, the skullhead is meant to engender feeling of death and terror.

I don't know what happened. Thought I posted. First, thank you for calling me young man. Now, please see my response to Jen Larkin above. Taking this post in good faith I am hoping you do have a reliable source (Not AIslop). Please share. I am looking for some contrasting info. Maybe Marisa too.

Ah Thank you. Please see my response to Jen Larkin. I will say, if I take your critique in good faith you must have found a really good, reliable source on the Internet. Please share. Perhaps Marissa has one too.

Sorry, here is the wikipedia page

Or and by the way, the algorithm comment was completely different. I and my research group do some work on social media and one of our discussion points in algorithms. I invited to read my work if you have some time.

My experience is that these pages are well vetted and written by people who are highly knowledgeable. It is quite difficult to get information on a page. I am guessing you have a better source (and the others too). As stated before I would be interested to see it if it is not AIslop.

What the article suggests is that it was appropriated by both the SS and three panzer divisions (ground troops). Nowhere does it say that it came to symbolize Naziism. I think if that were the case it would have been mentioned but who knows.

I am sorry you are confused Jen. I don't know where you got your information. I certainly hope it was not AIslop. Here is the wikipedia page on the Totenkopf. You will notice it has a very long history, and the history with the Nazis is very short.

Does anybody at all have any scholarship that this is a Nazi symbol tattoo? I have never seen Hitler or the Nazi high command wearing it. I have not seen it on flags. One the ground troops wore it. I always thought it mean death - which is not good but not Nazi. Does somebody have evidence?

He talks about it at length here

I don't know. I wonder if many of the people attacking Platner would honestly say they knew that was a Nazi symbol. I certainly didn't. I thought it was a biker tattoo. And a lot of Marines have it? Are our Marines all Nazis?

Also, Platner said many people in the Marines have it. Is this true? What does this mean if it is a well known Nazi symbol?
