Recent English lit PhD thinking about the intersections of pop culture & violence against women. I love cats, romance novels, pop music, and buying too many planners.
Ruin the Friendship is actually well written, and I think the twist makes it compelling, I just don’t really like how it sounds unfortunately

TLOAS would be higher if I didn’t think the first verse was some of the worst writing she’s ever done. Eldest Daughter would also be higher without the verses—I think the chorus is fine actually, but the verses don’t work.

I think this is where my ranking is at:

1. Father Figure
2. Wood
3. Elizabeth Taylor
4. The Fate of Ophelia
5. Actually Romantic
6. The Life of a Showgirl
7. Opalite
8. Honey
9. Wish List
10. Cancelled
11. Eldest Daughter
12. Ruin the Friendship

1-5 are pretty solid, the rest I’m less certain of

No but I am for real going to do a ranking, they’re all genuinely great but I do have favorites

Anyway Beenado and the plane landing were definitely a more fun opening arc overall but I am very much enjoying the fresh character roles & dynamics during this arc

Also!!! I know some people were anti Cap Chimney (and I get it, I wanted Captain Hen too) but I am enjoying him very much and think this is genuinely really interesting character development for him

I am of course itching for some Buddie content but in the meantime, BuckRavi besties and BuckHarry brothers have been great. And Eddie looks hot and is doing paramedic things, so there’s that.

The stuff actually happening in space is more boring tbh but I love Karen and Maddie working together to save Hen and Athena.

I don’t think the song is 100% about Blake, bc Selena, Sophie, and other celeb-friends of TS faced stupid backlashes over the past couple years, but there’s a 0% chance it has nothing to do with the Blake Lively drama of it all

Also frankly I can’t get the way she sings “tone deaf and hot, let’s fucking off her” out of my head

Harris-Walz ran exactly the sort of economics and “kitchen-table issues” campaign these voices recommend, adamantly avoiding identity politics.

Biden-Harris was a working-and-middle-class-economics-focused administration.

“Ah, but in 2020, Democrats said…”

Yes, that was the election they won.

Also the audiobooks are so so soooo good if you can get your hands on them. My library had them and truly what a gift.
