It's been almost a month since I did some proper scale modeling 😅 Instead getting more and more into riding my 15 years old mtb again after 6 years not touching it. How I've missed the trails!
If I can keep this up I promised myself a new bike.

Today I finally decided to cut the vac-formed canopy for the Wildcat. It's originally made to fit the Tamiya kit, but I think it fits OK enough. It's been waiting patiently for it for many months 😅 But I felt courageous today. I did cut my thumb with the hobby knife...

Flat paint is done except for some touch ups. The Tamiya tape left marks on the paint. Next time de-tack some more! Also the blue tack left marks, but rubbing with a cotton swap fixed that. The colors have subtle shades, but the phone didn't pick those up unfortunately.

Slowly building up the OD in thin layers. Trying to replicate faded OD under a hot Italian sun.
Tamiya OD with some drops of Desert Yellow thinned with X-20A and Mr. Levelling Thinner.
I will do some post-shading after this.

I found this old decal sheet online by Almark Decals. This gave me a boost in motivation to pick up the Airfix Sea Fury again after I finish the P-47D. What a decalsheet can do... Hope they're good 🫣

Great models on the contest table at KMK ScaleWorld, Belgium. Good for the mojo meter and I finally found myself a 1/48 Hasegawa P-40K. And for a decent price!

Finally some colors! The aim is to let the pre-shading have a subtle effect, not too stark. I used thin layers to slowly build up the color.

Painted with Vallejo Model Air, Airbrush Thinner and a drop of Flow Improver.

I also use Vallejo metallics. Below I used Dull Alluminium. I really like their Dark Alluminium.
I think I use 18-20psi on my cheapo Sparmax 0,5mm (which I mostly use for priming). The trick is to apply very light coats and built it up slowly.

I should have used this the first time round.. The good stuff: mr color super metallic 2 after a coat of Tamiya gloss black.

Let's see if I can tone down the shininess a bit 😎☀️

I don't know what happened, but yea.. stripping the paint.

(maybe I do know🤔: never seal mr. metal color with Vallejo gloss, use Citadel for touch ups and following it by an oil wash.. 😅)
