Velasco, apparently relieved by his impending departure of the deference owed to a commanding officer, curses in Spanish and whistles when she emerges from the ladies’ room with bolder makeup, a passable up-do, and a fresh, low-cut, pink top. It’s Curry, though, who — smiling — confronts the evidence. “Hot date?” Olivia imagines Elliot, probably already seated at their table. Tie removed, a few buttons undone, blue eyes twinkling at her. She blushes. Nods. “Very.”

It’s ridiculous how fast they went from “our All Our Friends Are Dying era” to — this. For fuck’s sake. “It wasn't a dare,” she grumbles at him. By four AM, she’s dried her tears, and she’s bargaining. “You have to wake up if you wanna hear me say it back.”

The studio’s “main stage” is really just the biggest instruction room filled with folding chairs, maybe sixty total. Olivia arrives right when the director finishes her opening remarks — early by Olivia's track record. Assuming there’s nowhere to sit, she's about to lean against the back wall when the whole front row turns her way. Ten Stabler faces smile at her. Elliot waves her over. “You brought everyone?” She whispers, choked with emotion. He nods. “Noah’s big night.” She can’t breathe. He takes her hand. She squeezes. “Thanks.”

Liz lays a hand on Rich’s arm; Rich tilts his head. Eli sighs. Olivia steps around Kathleen, putting herself in the center, opposite Elliot. She’s breathtaking in the afternoon sun. “Elliot? Y’okay?” It’s just like before, except — everything’s changed. He smiles. “I love you.”

A 100 word vignette by MldrItsMe that reads When Noah was little Olivia sometimes let herself imagine Elliot being there with them. Her best friend, sharing in moments both precious and mundane. Another member of their chosen family. At the playground, he’d scoop Noah up from the bottom of the slide. He’d read Llama Llama a thousand times, on demand. He’d whistle and cheer when Noah rounded for home at t-ball. Little, unremarkable things. So tonight, as they playfully argue over popcorn toppings — as Elliot tickle-wrestles Noah for control of the tabasco bottle and Noah squeals, forgetting momentarily to be cool — her heart clenches. Because it’s huge. Remarkable.
