Wake is anti military?? I don’t know how many military are in graduate programs, but it has a very visible ROTC battalion, offers programs, recognition, and get togethers for its military alumni, and regularly emails its “decorated Deacs.” Generous yellow ribbon funds, too.

It's not correct that no lives were lost defending Greenland. The US stationed forces there in WWII to defend it. U-Boats torpedoed the DORCHESTER with troops bound for Greenland. 674 lives were lost.

Establishing the Department of Defense 1947 was not a rebrand of the Department of War. The War Department was the Army. The Department of the Navy was separate. The National Security Act of 1947 separated the Air Force from the Army and integrated all three service departments under one umbrella.
