One of my greatest joys is mentorship. I am grateful to have received the Frederick L. Brancati Excellence in Mentoring Award and the Susan MacDonald Sponsorship Award, and I remain committed to training and supporting the next generation of physician–scientists and clinicians.

Our work includes home, school, and community-based studies in partnership with Baltimore City Schools, the Baltimore City Health Department, and the American Lung Association—with the shared goal of improving health and quality of life.

As Director of both the BREATHE Center and the Asthma Precision Medicine Center of Excellence, my research focuses on the intersection of lung disease and the environment across the lifespan.

My work as past Chair of the American Thoracic Society PFT Committee helped establish new industry standards for interpretation of lung function.

I am passionate about advancing lung health through pulmonary function testing and served as the Director of the Johns Hopkins Pulmonary Function Laboratory for over fifteen years.

In my clinical practice, I specialize in asthma and COPD, caring for patients at Bayview Medical Center and the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
