✨ Shubho Bijoya ✨ to my fellow Bengalis.

As Durga Puja ends, we celebrate resilience and the triumph of good over evil.

Change begins in our own circles-challenging harmful narratives, having brave conversations, and standing up for those made to feel unwelcome.

Let's choose compassion over hate💜

The Maternal Mental Health Alliance is deeply appalled and heartbroken by the recent wave of anti-immigration marches and the racist and misogynistic abuse that has accompanied them.

If recent events have impacted your mental wellbeing, you are far from alone in that.

Please reach out. Many of our members are already offering support to people in their networks. Send us a message if you’re not sure where to turn. Take care.

Nobody should live in fear because of their identity.

The word ‘Alliance’ is in our name for a reason; we are built on inclusivity, solidarity, and collective strength. Together, we must combat hatred and strive towards an equitable society where everyone is safe, respected, and cared for.

We have been particularly horrified by reports of women and birthing people being directly targeted in counter-protests and online, including the racism directed at members of our own community who work tirelessly to create safe spaces for vulnerable families impacted by perinatal mental illness.

Black Maternal Mental Health Week begins today, returning for its 5th year, led by MMHA Member The Motherhood Group.

This week is about more than awareness. We'll be highlighting new research, sharing insights from lived experiences, and discussing how we translate evidence into action.

Thanks to Amy for sharing her experience of PND and the lifesaving inpatient care she received at an MBU. With family ties to Northern Ireland, Amy reflected on how different her story might have been if that was where she was living at the time: www.belfastlive.co.uk/news/norther...

As last week’s MBRRACE-UK report highlighted, improving safety means more than preventing physical harm. If we are serious about safer maternity care, mental health must be treated on equal footing with physical safety. Every woman and birthing person deserves compassionate, safe, and holistic care.

Bereaved and harmed families’ voices will be central in shaping recommendations to urgently improve care and safety, and their courage and insight are hugely welcome
mmhalliance.bsky.social
The latest MBRRACE report is as devastating as ever.

Mental health must be at the heart of maternity safety.

Every life lost is one too many.

Baroness Amos will lead the NHS maternity & neonatal care investigation. We welcome the timeline & focus on families’ voices but seek clarity on mental health inclusion.
