Newspaper editor, diehard Mets fan, TV aficionado (sounds fancy, doesn’t it?). Hopefully this place stays free from Trump’s control.
Was set for a long, contemplative post about the ups and downs of this first quarter century of the 21st century……..then realized the first quarter century would’ve ended Dec. 31 of LAST year. So, that was the end of that.

Still, happy new year, everyone.

I mean, did anyone seriously think the #EpsteinFiles would NOT be redacted to within an inch of their life? There will be no repercussions, as usual.

“In a vacuum, each decision can be explained with sound logic.”

You can make that argument about Nimmo, and *maybe* even Alonso. But as this column notes, Diaz left because #Mets were dicking around over deferred money. Despite having the richest owner in the game. There’s no explaining this.

Not sharing a screen shot, or clip, of what he said about Rob Reiner, but just know this: Trump is a repugnant, vile pile of garbage, and there frankly aren’t enough words in the English language to adequately convey how detestable he is.

SNY airing the Alonso and Diaz press conferences was really a masterful bit of trolling by the Wilpons. #Mets

It’s somewhat comforting to know that, no matter how stupid the Mets are, you can always count on Trump & Co. to be even stupider.

We want lower prices, Duffy. It’s not rocket surgery.

This is how the economy works now. You kiss the ass of the top guy, he throws you favors. There is no ideology here, it's just mafia rules, the oldest rules in the book.

You know, there were actually people who honestly believed SCOTUS wouldn’t devolve into an extension of Trump, willing and eager to do their master’s bidding. I remained cynical — and once again, cynicism wins.
Supreme Court likely to allow Trump FTC firing, expanding presidential power
In a landmark case, the Supreme Court will determine the future of independent government agencies such as the FTC and a president's power to remove leaders at will.

Nothing says “economy doing great!” like beef being FIVE TIMES what it was last year.
Fox Business: "Remember, if you do want to do another protein like beef, the price is still up. It's about 5 times the price it was last year. So just keep that in mind. Turkey is probably your best bet. Just stick to the one."

I mean, I think we all know of a pretty big name that’s going to be redacted through the whole thing. Rhymes with Schmonald Schmump.

We seriously have Republicans talking about going back to the “good old days” of high-risk pools, which just meant that people with preexisting conditions like cancer couldn’t get health insurance.
Tom Emmer: "You're gonna have to create high risk pools again. Just go back where Minnesota was before the ACA."

I still can’t believe the Dems caved against these people. They’re, like, demonstrably evil, and the public was finally starting to see the light.

He’s an evil person willing to starve his own supporters and it just infuriates me that Democrats let him off the hook.

I’m guessing all the “leave politics out of it, let me watch sports!!!!” people are fine with this.
Fox gives Trump a platform during their NFL broadcast to peddle his absurd lies about "prices are coming way down", "we inherited a mess," and "our country has over $17 trillion being invested in it." Absolutely shameful for all involved.

This is a really, really dumb move. Our baserunning was one of the high points of the season. How do you let contract negotiations break down with a freaking coach? It just makes us look embarrassingly cheap. This is a Wilpon move in the Cohen era. Not a good sign. #Mets

There's just no way to exaggerate how cooked your brain has to be to think like this. Trump is an unprecedented, law-breaking, norm-breaking, increasingly demented maniac who is destroying this country's basic institutions. Like, right now! As we speak!

But media elites find that boring.

Republicans control the House, Senate and presidency, yet somehow it’s the Democrats who “keep the government closed.”

Don’t let them lie to you, folks. Because it’s all they do.
Johnson: "Russ does this reluctantly. He takes no pleasure in this. Russ has to sit down and decide which policies, personnel, & programs are essential & which are not. That's not a fun task and he's not enjoying that responsibility...if they keep the govt closed, it's gonna get more & more painful"
