It's a shame tbh

I'd personally definitely keep on using social media if metrics went away. My *hope* is that others would continue to use it, but unfortunately I think that the conditioning and drive to get likes/reposts/clout is too deeply engrained in most people 🙃

I wish I could get back into a headspace of not caring about metrics as much — it definitely does feel like that mentality affects SO many people on social media nowadays, which is honestly a shame

I honestly think that's a shame, because the way I used to engage with it was so much purer and *rawer*, emotionally

There's a noticable shift in how I posted on instagram, for example, from before I started caring as much about how others saw my posts to now

Oh absolutely!! I saw a skeet yesterday (I think? Maybe the day before) talking about how the current vibes are like a combo of old-twitter and peak-tumblr, and that's honestly pretty spot on

I think there's a lot to be said for how hard the team has been working on ease-of-use and accessibility, which are two HUGE factors in creating a platform like this!!

Purely based on a combo of the funding/founders and the slow invite rollout, I can definitely see it as being the next huge thing tbh

Obviously there are some basic QoL features missing (surprise! we're on an alpha app lol), but I already feel so much better about opening up bluesky instead of the blue bird app
