before i met you
love felt like the universe expanding
like millions of atoms of stardust,
exploding before my eyes.

hundreds of lives and planets
created and ceasing to exist
before i met you
love always felt like an explosion

thats an inside thought not an outside thought
but it’s a happy thought, but not one you want
and so, i keep my little thoughts to myself
in my crystal chest of a heart

memories of you

the smell of hotel coffee reminds me of you.
the sound of rain brings me back to a night of music,
memories of you are painful
but i’ll never get rid of them

Of names
I say I’ve forgotten
I look at their names without a sliver of recognition

Names and faces
Sounds of words said
Names being repeated
I’ll listen and say I don’t know

I can look you in the face,
Recognition in my eyes
