Congrats on getting a short published! That's really cool that you were able to do that directly.

Thanks for all you guidance and activities these last two weeks. I'd love to see more exercises, and keep trying them out to improve. Best of luck with your writing!

This week I'm going to query again with my revised package. After a query batch, I usually take a writing break to read comps/TBR list, but I'm jazzed up to work on my speculative WIP because of Camp, so I may "cheat" and do that instead this month. #CRPWizardWasps

Thanks for sharing your experience with pressure point fighting! That's fascinating. I'm sorry to hear of your pain but am pleased my research was correct. And thank you for the compliment; that makes me smile. It's true, there are times for precision and times to go for larger targets!

That's a good point. Do authors usually go direct to publishers then?

Because of her size, Mia was trained to pressure-point fight.

I brought my polished MS so I don't have large scale changes to that, but my CPs gave me great feedback on first 5 and query letter!

No, unfortunately I've never written short stories.

That's a great quote. In fact, I think I have it saved to my Pinterest writing board as well.

Here's a scene from my MS. I edited an "angry" out and I like it much better. Thanks for the tip!

Before becoming a mom, I used to have about an hour of distraction free writing time after dinner and chores. Now I have to fit it in during small moments. I usually have to "steal" them from times I shouldn't be writing.

Sorry for being absent lately. Me, my husband and toddler got sick this week. I'll try to jump back in as much as possible.
I've been querying my MS, and plan to send the next query batch after Camp. It's been great to CP for other authors in the same phase as me!

No, I don't really get stage fright either. 😬 I genuinely enjoy presenting. I get a tiny bundle of nerves right before stepping out but then it vanishes. They're probably similar for me in that if I have a solid plan for what I hope to accomplish, any mental blocks go away.

I don't often experience writer's block because I get such limited time to work, so I force myself to go in with a plan. The hardest part is trying to fit it all in before the session ends. I think writer's block happens when you let the project become bigger than you.

The deepest relationship in Wallbreaker is between Mia and Brant, which is challenging since they spend so little physical time together. I like that challenge though. It's like Katniss and Gale in Hunger Games.
Bonus: I envision their interactions as if they're friends of mine.

What does your protagonist think it is? Mia thinks the storm blew out the candles and lights.
What is it actually? A stranger cut the lights.
How will its arrival change your character’s next decision? It will make her decide to stay or flee.

Mia wants to return to the capital.
She'll lose out on her dream and be separated from the boy she loves.
She tells herself that she can succeed on her own.
She finally admits to the truth to the group of people who are about to destroy her success, and it works, she wins them over.
