Anyhow, you made a good point re: to clap or not to clap back if you've chosen to triangulate your way through a venomous snake pit (another "promotion"). Hadn't thought of it that way. Something to be said for talking soft, carrying a big journalistic stick & not being sucked into the sick game.

I'm thinking the baboon comparison might be both a compliment and a promotion. Sun loving Baboons do not defy evolution or brazenly wallow in pre-sentient subterranean slime.
