Dysart O'Dea, in mid Co. Clare, a treasure-house. A substantial medieval church with superb doorway featuring finely scuptured human & animal faces, a round tower (upper part destroyed), a tall High Cross, & a well-preserved tower house. The sites beautifully illuminated by a low winter sun

Other things that could my eye, having walked barely a km of the Prom. A busker playing Christmas melodies; iconic Blackrock diving board at a distance to the west; cormorants on their favourite off-shore boulder; a gull proclaiming its presence to all & sundry. Salthill on winter solstice 2025

Stonechats common on the lichen-covered boulders that protect Grattan Road from winter storms. Most were male; 3. photo a female?

Another attraction these days are the bar-tailed godwits. Difficult to spot on the sand (1. photo) & they don't appear to be deterred by the much larger brent geese (4. photo)
