In sum, Europe has little to lose in hitting back hard. The hope here is Europe hits back hard and prompts Trump to deescalate, just as he has done on China. Thus by escalating Europe is also creating a pathway to deescalate this crisis.

Out of curiosity would you mind sharing your filming setup? I’ve been thinking about making some videos and am exploring the different options for shooting decent footage

I see this sentiment quite often and while my heart goes out to those who were particularly affected, their misfortune is not at odds with the fact that when looking at the broader population the situation IS improving.

Truly shocking the amount of people who simply don't seem to be able to understand this

Frankly this post is embarrassing in its extremely narrow analysis.

Why is the AFD succeeding by far the most in the east where there is far less immigration than in the west? I’m highly skeptical of any claim that center parties cracking down on immigration will stop the far right. Most examples point to that strategy emboldening and normalizing the far right.

Have you considered maybe creating a shared google sheet/doc where people looking for footage could also place requests as a way to get more specific footage?

When I get the chance, I'll try to send in some videos of Frankfurt, some of the satellite towns that follow the main train lines, and maybe some "rural"German cycling paths as well.

Very cool initiative! I've been thinking about starting to collect some footage myself for quite some time now, but as I'm not currently in a position to make any scripted/edited videos of my own, I never really had a reason to start. Now I do!

The anti-immigration stuff on Reddit is truly out of control. On top of that, I constantly see earnestly made, interesting questions, just getting the same 20 shitty rehashed jokes over and over again. The use case shrinks on the daily. The website has become a real misery machine and I’m over it.

Restricting access based on “needed skills” is not as great as many seem to think it is. Those skills are needed now, but by rejecting workers who are not in a “needed skills” group often creates big holes in the future as we tend to be quite shit about planning for what skills will be needed

Unemployment in Spain used to be considerably worse. Unemployment is on a very positive trajectory in Spain.

Am European in Europe, also quite common here

But they always seem to think it wouldn’t work here or that you are crazy for even suggesting such a ridiculous thing
October 24, 2025 at 4:59 PM
I find it crazy how in Europe we have countries like Germany whose citizens absolutely freak out anytime there are proposals that would be extremely common place in the Netherlands or Denmark. Ostensibly you would assume that there would be some sort of normalization especially in border cities
