I know that batting average IS not important anymore, but sometimes I wonder if it should be. It is probabbly requires too radical a change but hits are more exciting than walks, I kinda wonder if it is possible to make singles worth more than walks.

I wonder how much that the lines have gotten more blurry with more media members or at least media adjecnt members who are avid and loud fans of specific teams in a way that does seem more true in the internet age than before impacts this.

whether you support Lander or not in this race. There is no way someone from the city is winning in Rockland and Westchester.
December 10, 2025 at 2:16 PM
yes, which is why the number i gave you was then multiplied by the average size of a dweling in los angeles, 3.1.
December 9, 2025 at 4:12 PM
Of total housing units
December 9, 2025 at 4:07 PM
I would be perfectly happy to try and using existing housing stock to create temporary housing for those who need it. As a short term solution, fine. But long term, we need to build more units.
December 9, 2025 at 3:48 PM
Because society needs to be able to function. And as i showed above, its not like this comes close to fixing the problem.
December 9, 2025 at 3:48 PM
I just gave you the numbers. The latest vacancy rate figures are 5.2% . that's not an assumption those are the numbers.
December 9, 2025 at 3:34 PM
And that assumes filling evey single open room, which we cant do because there needs to be some vacancies or people would be unable to ever move which is a major problem.
December 9, 2025 at 3:24 PM
so we at least finally said what number you are asking for. Based on what I can estimate based on vacancy rate and the average size of housing. there are around 21,000 vacant bedrooms in Los Angeles. Still an oder of magnitude less than the number of total housing units we need...

I have long said that terfs are the closest to the caricature that Alt right men claim feminists are. They view men as inherently dangerous and yet they they totally get along.
December 8, 2025 at 11:40 PM
You are asking for a number but refuisng to answer what the number that you are asking for means. You said bedrooms, what types of bedrooms are you including in that? I gave you numbers as to the number of housing units needed in a city with a big problem.
December 8, 2025 at 8:43 PM
Ok what does it mean?
December 8, 2025 at 8:26 PM
Ok so, when I am gathering is the "honest quetion" you said in your first statement was not actually an honest question and you are not interested in having a discussion. The ratio of bedrooms to people who need one is not a statistic that means anything.
December 7, 2025 at 2:45 AM
If a thread of people talking about how to solve the housing crisis (build more) makes you angry I think you need to question what your actual goal is.
December 7, 2025 at 2:41 AM
again what does this mean? Housing is more than bedrooms. you cant just put people living on the street or in their cars in random bedrooms
December 7, 2025 at 2:33 AM
what does that mean
December 6, 2025 at 8:48 PM
This is Los Angeles, BTW. I am using one city that has a particually acute problem
December 6, 2025 at 6:32 PM
The estimate are that the number of airb&b's are in the between 3,000 7,000 while the number of homes needs is in the range of 250,000 - 300,000.
December 6, 2025 at 6:22 PM
I am all for taxing airb&b such that it is not profitable to have properties like this as long term homes and not short term rentals. But that alone will not fix this
December 6, 2025 at 4:59 PM
If this is an honest question. It is way higher than that. We have a massive housing shortage in the places where people want to live and it is oftehn drive by incumbant homeowners placing resrtictions on how much can be built to protect home values.
December 6, 2025 at 4:48 PM
Nope, the issue is a lack of homes. First the occupancy rate is not below 50% for most areas, not even close. Airb&b is a problem but that problem is orders of magnitudes less than the problem of not enough housing stock.
December 6, 2025 at 4:46 PM
I'd take it a step further and say a lot of this is a outgrowth of straight depression. And people will depression will try and drag down anything that brings joy. Oh you enjoyed that (in this case baseball game) well here is why that thing sucks actually.
