I’ve already had the shingles vax but got everything else I could this year: Covid, flu, mmr, rsv, pneumonia. I’m only 54 but will take all I can get given the insanity of our current government. I also did a titer test for mmr and had no detectable protection left so got it again!

You lucked out. I’ve only found people I definitely do not want to marry on social media. :)

Remembering that gives us hope in Texas!

I couldn’t agree more. FDR was an amazing president.

Me too. I don’t think we could go wrong with either of them. I wish I was in their district and able to vote for them.

I mean, no one has come up with anything to replace the ACA, right?

What’s super scary, and I couldn’t hate admitting it more, but as a cancer survivor, the best health care I had prior to ACA was a plan in Texas that was for “uninsurables.” I had excellent care for a fair price.

Jacobs is actually a good pick overall for this position. He’s qualified and intelligent. He has diverse experience in meteorology. He’s actually a non-controversial selection IMO. Of course, as always with this admin, we will see what he’s forced to do and how far he will let it go.

The Senate confirmed a new leader of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, installing Neil Jacobs, the acting director during the hurricane forecasting controversy of the first Trump administration known as “Sharpiegate.”

I lean left more now than ever before and am a solid blue voter. Republicans have moved so far to the right, it’s tough to feel politically moderate anymore. I feel moderate in a personal sense more than anything. Fiscally, I feel like we probably all think government spending is out of control!

Unfortunately, this is also true. We’re definitely also a non-voting state. My opinion though is gerrymandering still has a lot to do with that as it simply contributes to Texans feeling their votes don’t matter. They don’t seem to remember gerrymandering doesn’t affect statewide elections.

We’re not all savages down here. We thankfully have Voodoo Donuts in the very blue city of Houston. They’re THE BEST!

I mean, our government is being run by people who have basically no experience to do it, so apparently anything goes now.

Donald Trump needs to be removed from office immediately.

I’m former GOP too and wouldn’t go back. You have to show us some grace. Many of us have learned a lot since leaving GOP. Idk anyone who can see even a tentative path back now, thank God. We’ve seen the light and are grateful to be here. We’re in it with the left to win it now.

We are gerrymandered to death in Texas. I live in central Houston, a very blue, huge, multicultural city, yet my district includes rural voters that live 2 hours away, so my reps are always MAGA. It’s infuriating and important other states realize we are being held hostage in this way. We are trying

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see much on the left that’s well-funded or organized right now. It would be great if Miller could go ahead and point the way to that group, because I’d like to join.

They all look unbelievably inbred to me.

My aunt has a special needs adult daughter that lives with her, and she’s so die-hard MAGA the rest of the family has given up even trying to have a relationship with her. They already have limited income. I have absolutely no clue what they’ll do if her beloved MAGA cuts her daughter’s benefits.

Right?? That seat still being open is such MAGA motivated BS. Unbelievable. I’m curious who you think should fill the seat.

Be careful what you wish for though. My rep is Wesley Hunt, and I’d much rather his position be vacant!

I’ve been plant-based almost 7 years. I cheat occasionally if I’m out with a little bit of fish, shellfish, or egg (but never dairy). I initially gave up “anything with a face or mother” on a dare, then I felt too good to stop. Now I also care about the animals and the positive impact on our earth.

I’ve stopped speaking to more than half the people I’ve known my whole life bc of this. It’s been terrible, but I can’t take hearing the same BS anymore: “I haven’t heard about that,” or “he didn’t mean that the way he said it,” or “there’s no way he actually posts those things on truth social.”
