“Seeking what is true is not seeking what is desirable or convenient.” - Albert Camus, more or less. Mostly less.
Happy #IronManMonday. Loved this issue as a kid - the battle of the Iron Men, with sober Tony coming out on top over inexperienced Rhodey. Great memories here, and this early 80s storyline run locked in Iron Man for me ever since.

I just came across this and now suddenly realize you may be onto something with this whacko administration: if it was good enough for the Gipper, maybe it’s time to Make Smoking Great Again. 🥴😬

#TopShelfFriday time. A classic narrative hook cover by the late, great George Perez. Nostalgic feels, but also a key sliding point issue for The Avengers.

But the first movie did give us Tron: Deadly Discs 🥏 for the Intellivision 🤩. So there’s that 🤷🏽

Loved this first issue when it first came out, was enjoying the series but fell off the wagon. Forgot it was Marv Wolfman as the writer! Would love to revisit. I remember it as a bang-up first issue, not sure how it'd hold up today, but this is my pick for the week:

To be fair, he did condemn it, but definitely not to the degree that he has with Kirk, and I very much disliked his presumptive & reckless provocation that Kirk’s assassination was the work of “Radical Leftists,” especially now that it’s becoming more clear with the investigation that it was not

Setting the mood for my morning reading 📖, a George Washington breakfast 🇺🇸, complete with tea 🫖, corn-cakes, & honey 🍯, all by candlelight, as I read Ron Chernow’s masterful biography, Washington. My weird #Booksky 📚 💙 quirk is reading biographies & trying out the subject’s favourite breakfasts. 🍳

Haunting rendition of @margaretatwood.bsky.social ’s classic The Handmaid’s Tale, by Renee Nault. Colourful, poignant illustrations by Nault that capture mood & characterizations of original story. Well worth the time to read or revisit given regression of women’s rights in world today #Booksky 📚 💙

The Luke & Leia flashback Jedi Training scene in TROS was cool and appreciated. Waited 36 years to see that one 👍🏻

Magneto in his plastic prison, playing chess ♟️ with Charles Xavier in the first X-Men movie. Perfect ending to that film. I think WandaVision dropped the ball not bringing in Ian Mckellan to play her & Pietro’s father - that would’ve been a retcon plot twist that would’ve been trippy & accepted 🫨

Currently reading Carney’s book Values (2021) & Carney the writer talks the talk on sustainable growth & inevitable Green Economy, but Carney the PM has to deal with Trump 2.0, Putin, & Fossil Fuel’s resurging last stand in this age of rapidly progressing climate change. We’ll see where this heads.

What I loved about Tomb of Dracula was that it never felt out of place when Marvel heroes like Dr Strange or in this gem 💎 the Silver Surfer guest starred. It just worked. Tomb of Dracula 🧛 worked for me as a series b/c it was classic anti-hero - you hated him but somehow wound up rooting for him 🤷🏽

They blew their divine test from God. Trump is the false prophet they were supposed to recognize and reject and they failed miserably.

Hey @pkrugman.bsky.social I am seeiing a couple of what looks like AI videos impersonating you to buy certain stock or programs, and now there’s ads on Facebook that look like the one below. Are these legit or is this the work of scammers trying to use your likeness & reputation to sucker in people?

That we would be this far-gone to allow this level of lunacy to stand as public policy. We should be rioting in the streets about this idiotic, cruel & inhumane garbage, but instead we just keep on Rockin’ in the Free World. Carl wouldn’t be surprised by the anti-science, but cutting cancer funds?!?

#Booksky 💙📚 Time: Reading Guy Delisle’s graphic novel Jerusalem: Chronicles from the Holy City (2012). Part cultural expose, part travelogue, the story follows a year in life of a visitor through the city as he gets immersed in the political turmoil & contentious divisions of the religious capital.

I prefer Dick Tracy comic strips (by Chester Gould and/or Max Allan Collins) in black & white. Very nostalgic. I find there’s too much colour when they are colonized and look more cartoony whereas b & w presents more edgy plausibility to them. The characters, as zany as they are, seem more real.

Post your disappointment in the game of life:
Waited 34 years to finally see Luke Skywalker return and got this mess of a take (& movie). Read well over 30 EU novels in those 34 years that did the character such justice, only to have it all tossed so Luke could be portrayed a whiny, annoying hermit

Daredevil # 227. A perfect cover for a comic of the ages. All the more gut-punching with the Twin Towers featured so prominently on the Manhattan skyline. You can tell where they get the mood and tone of the current MCU Daredevil TV series from…
