They're fully aware that the vast majority of these people won't move. They just also know that saying they will makes for a better headline.

I know this is really low on the list of things to object to, but if you're going to throw a Gatsby themed party, at least stay on theme. Play some Duke Ellington or Benny Goodman or something.

This sort of take is the natural consequence of viewing politics as a sort of gentleman's sport where the only stakes are getting elected.

My favorite part of this will always be the discrepancy in bodies that Madonna chose to give herself and Hillary.

If you look at the polling data, you'll clearly see that they would just need to run Kamala and then they'd win. Easy peasy.

Who would've guessed that the way to get the Michael Hobbes seal of approval is dunking on NYT columnists

The next step is often to blame the bot on some foreign actor like Russia or China. A lot of people feel far more comfortable believing the hatred infesting the country is coming from outside saboteurs.

Folks, these people, very nasty people, they say I've betrayed the state. I tell them I can't betray the state because I am the state! Everyone's saying it: L'État, c'est moi. Very beautiful phrase .

Immediately after Kent State, polling found that 58% of Americans blamed the students. It's perhaps one of the greatest examples of "one day everyone will have always been against this".

If/when ICE starts murdering random people, MSM will go into overdrive equivocating on if they deserved it

Definitely. It has some overly wordy dialogue that you sometimes see from the era, but if you can get past that it easily earns its reputation.

There's a reason why pretty much every Titans thing since then just adapts that run to one degree or another.

The appeal to couch the right's support of Israel in a fundamentalist doomsday cult prophecy is that it makes it so easy to dismiss with a simple "these people are just crazy".

There are people with that conscious motivation, but far more is racism and nationalism, which is harder to contend with.

Something like that would probably get immediately struck down due to the compact clause. It would be one of the select times that the SC would remember the constitution exists.

You had me worried for a bit that you were going to start defending White Knight.

"Look at my critique where Batman's actually the bad guy and Joker is the good guy, but to make that point I have to wildly change everyone's history, behavior, and personality"

Oh you're so smart, Sean Murphy

Even Obama was on team "civil unions" for the longest time and worried about alienating conservatives. Believe it or not it was J'Biden who first came out hard for Gay marriage.

You often point out that conservatives on the Supreme Court just ignore the rules/laws/precedent in order to get the result that they want.

Do you think that an institutional or structural solution to that problem is even possible, or is the only answer to just have less shitty justices?
