Twisted, one-sided commentary. Canadian (the human kind, not the emotional support animal kind).
This is the money paragraph, and it's not just male sexuality but maleness in general that gets the non-negotiable treatment. Men can consume great art or watch porn (or both!). But media for women is assessed through a social justice lens. This particular front of the culture war is women's work.

I'm not going to quote-tweet the associate professor who moved (from America?) to Canada and then got cancer and is understandably horrified by the nightmare alternate scenario in which she became sick before becoming a citizen, but...yes? Public health care is a social contract, not a charity.

Hats off to the team that managed to find two (or more?) ways to troll @cuddlefishj.bsky.social in a single headline

I'm seeing the full spectrum. There's, eg, this extremely demoralizing experience. This is a minority of my students, but they have an outsized effect on my morale. But I also have dozens of students who are bright, curious, ambitious, and well-adjusted, and it's a privilege to work with them.

Masoumi is saying that a policy prohibiting collective statements would "create a sense of self-censorship" where academic debate is not encouraged. An example of a collective statement her department made was one opposing the detention of a PhD candidate in Turkey.

I wrote back to the Privacy Commissioner, who sent me the email in the second screencap. I have no issues with the actions he took; as far as I can tell, he was thorough and did his job properly. The problem is the lack of accountability at airport security.
October 31, 2025 at 3:03 AM
Apparently, proper protocol was followed. A security agent can accuse a passenger of bringing an explosive into an airport, send the passenger for time-consuming and moderately invasive secondary screening, and is not required to report this in any way that can be accessed by the passenger.

I got a reply within two days. Apparently, civil servants can literally accuse you in writing of bringing explosive material into an airport and then act like it never happened.

But you know that "no" is the safe bet. (Someone screencapped and of course it's about the man who launched a thousand blocklists)

So this actually makes a damning kind of sense. Kirk was a public figure to his fans and haters, but he was actually a personal friend of some non-zero number of Republican lawmakers, the vice president being the most prominent among them. And his friends aren't just horrified by his violent death >
