These are all eminently sensible policies to the likes of you and I. The issue seems to be that all these grotesque profiteering industries have back channels into central government through donations and lobbying. As a result they’re afraid to go against their interests at the expense of ours!

Hard agree. Donations and lobbying of vested interests are not in the interest of the majority but set the policy for every government.
I’d like to see donations capped at an amount that the average person would deem acceptable and ban entirely donations from corporations or other entities

Yeah same. I’ve invested a lot of money into making my house energy efficient inc. solar, battery and heat pump so it pains me to know the energy I do buy is pegged to the price of gas plant generation costs. It’s madness!

Exactly and unfortunately unit prices will continue rising as the cost of extracting and processing oil/gas is only going to rise.
