Every day is like a cross between “Who Goes Nazi?” and “…the Aristocrats!”
moiradonegan.bsky.social
I assume so, though I'm only basing that on the profile picture of a Karl Marx sports mascot.

I think I'm commenting more here on left wing suspicion of "identity politics" and the aspiration by some to have a politics of "pure" class struggle, uncontaminated by efforts for race or gender justice—both an impossible dream and one that I think it reflects poorly on people for having.

Really understated that these people have no self respect, and it's insulting to the rest of us to have to watch them debase themselves this way.

Why are bad faith statements from white peoplethe defining feature of identity politics rather than the writers who actually wrote the theory being referenced?
moiradonegan.bsky.social
This is obviously cynical and insincere, and using right wing rhetoric like this, or the presence of women and minorities among the right, to delegitimize any efforts at race or gender equality is in fact doing the right wing's job for them.

A useful illustration of the limits of liberal identity politics.
It's astounding to see self-described progressives lose their minds over the successes of a Jewish female entrepreneur and intellect in @bariweiss, and a wildly successful Black man in @VanJones68. I guess equity, diversity, and inclusion don't mean as much as they've told us.

Mike Johnson’s position is young pregnant American women shouldn’t have to wait before being turned away to die in the parking lot from an ectopic pregnancy the hospital is afraid to treat
atrupar.com
Mike Johnson: "If you're a young, pregnant American citizen women who shows up in an ER and you get treated and they pay the hospital less for treating you than some illegal rabble rouser who came in from some South American country to do us harm, that is wrong."

Women's status has regressed so much that Betty Friedan, once thought of as an almost simplistically remedial entry-level feminist stating obvious truths, is now a wild eyed radical.

"My husband loves me and will make sure that I never have to work again. It's what's right for our family. We're equals even though he makes all the money."
Samantha Jones saying "If you were 25, that would be adorable, but you're 32 now, so that's just stupid."

A disturbingly easy way to get yelled at is to say that women should be in the paid workforce.

Would actually be a non-trivial sized group of people lol

Not the most egregious aspect by any means but it is embarrassing to be lorded over by people who are both so incompetent and also so corny.

Bari Weiss introduced herself to CBS News staff today on the network's 9AM call, saying she wants to "win," which requires restoring trust to CBS. She also said she was excited for staff to get to know the Free Press, and ended her remarks by saying: "Let's do the fucking news."

The advice I’d give to other people at 30 would be to have fun, to appreciate all the possibilities of life that continue to unfold and surprise them, to allow their griefs and struggles to make them more patient and generous toward others. The advice I’d give myself at 30 is “work harder.”

Those who are 35+, what advice do you have for people just entering their 30s?

“The reality is that the court is adjusting the law to make place for arbitrary power.”

To understand the Supreme Court's role in Trump's authoritarian project, I turned to the idea of a dual state: an authoritarian regime that keeps up a facade of normalcy

The “dual state” theory was invented to describe Nazis. The Supreme Court could take us there.
Authoritarianism—but make it look like the rule of law.
