We are still recruiting for a postdoc for my lab! This person will play a key role in a new R01 optimizing a self-guided digital intervention for #eatingdisorders. There will be ample opportunities for publishing, contributing to grants, mentoring, etc. Apply by 10/31 for priority consideration.

Ugh so sad and so frustrating 😭

Main takeaways:
Anorexia nervosa symptoms tended to improve while OCD symptoms did not.

Most studies looked at treatments developed for anorexia.

More research investigating treatment of comorbid anorexia and OCD is needed, particularly for more severe OCD.

Excited that my comprehensive exam was just published!

We looked at studies on treatments for comorbid anorexia nervosa and OCD.

The Trump Administration is maintaining the NIH grant freeze despite lawsuits challenging the order, a Nature article reported today.

Science funding in the US is already lagging, leaving researchers in limbo.

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too.

EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them.

Here’s our shareable guide ⬇️: (pt. 1/2)
KNOW YOUR
RIGHTS
IN CASE OF ICE:
CONOCE TUS DERECHOS
EN CASO DE ENCUENTRO CON ICE: DO NOT OPEN YOUR DOOR.
ICE cannot enter your home without a warrant signed by a judge.
Tell the agents to show you the warrant by sliding it under the door.
NO ABRAS TU PUERTA.
ICE no puede entrar a tu casa sin una orden firmada por un juez. Diles a los agentes que te muestren la orden deslizándola debajo de la puerta. ASK THEM
TO LEAVE.
If ICE doesn't have a warrant, tell them you do not consent for them to enter your home and ask them to leave. At work, ICE cannot enter employee-only areas without permission.
2
REMAIN SILENT.
You have the right to remain silent.
If the agents ask you questions, tell them,
"I wish to remain silent."
PERMANECE EN SILENCIO.
Tienes derecho a permanecer en silencio.
Si los agentes te hacen preguntas, diles:
"Deseo permanecer en silencio".

This project has been near-and-dear to my heart as an eating disorder researcher who has disabilities from chronic illnesses - I really hope this spurs more ED/disability research.
mollyfennig.bsky.social
In this paper, we propose that EDs and disabilities are fundamentally related, both directly, and indirectly through shared factors. We also call for future research, - including urging ED researchers to simply include disability as a demographic!

Some good news - super excited that our commentary was just published in Eating Behaviors: "Disabilities and eating disorders: A theoretical model and call for research"
