Hey, y’all! I’m Texas State Senator Molly Cook. I represent almost a million people in and around Houston. I’m an emergency room nurse, community organizer, and the first openly LGBTQ+ Texas Senator. Give me a follow and join the good fight down in Texas!

This November, Texans will vote on 17 proposed amendments to the state constitution. Here’s a quick breakdown of what each one would do.

I’ll be back soon with a deeper look at what these amendments mean for working Texans and who stands to benefit. Stay tuned!

So humbled to receive the Luminary Award from the Texas Healthcare and Bioscience Institute tonight! I believe in the power of science, innovation, and putting people first to strengthen healthcare for all Texans.

Houston’s first-ever hotel workers’ strike is still ongoing, and I’m proud to stand with UNITE HERE Local 23 members fighting for fair wages, fair schedules, and respect. I know every right and protection I’ve had as a nurse has come from people and unions organizing and fighting like this.

I am so honored to represent Houston as your State Senator for SD 15. It was an uphill battle at the Capitol, but I’ll never get tired of fighting for y’all. I can’t wait to keep this conversation going at home!

See you soon at one of our upcoming town halls. 💙

August 19 update. Big gratitude and admiration for Representative Nicole Collier, and for Megan Thuy, Jessica Cohen, Jill, and Angel Carroll-Grays who refused to back down in the face of injustice.

SB 8 is sloppy, dangerous policy that makes it harder for family violence shelters to do their jobs. I voted no.

Senate Republicans just revived the THC ban Abbott already vetoed. I voted no on banning THC, again.

It’s been 42 days, and the Governor still has not used his broad emergency powers to send flood relief money. Flood relief money and recovery policies remain tied to the White House’s demand to gerrymander our state to let politicians choose their voters.

The first special session is over, and less than an hour later the Governor called us back for round two with the same agenda.

My thoughts on the Houston Chronicle article: “Democrats say Greg Abbott is holding up flood relief”.

This special session is a sham.

House Democrats are holding strong and putting a halt on this corrupt redistricting process, even under immense pressure and threats from the Republicans. We’re so grateful.

Republicans got the FBI involved, Trump wants a new census, and there’s still no flood relief for Texans.

If Texas doesn’t stop gerrymandering right now, this will turn into a national gerrymandering arms race. Stop redistricting, fund the flood relief.
mollyfortexas.bsky.social
My demand of State leadership and the White House is take redistricting off the call so we can work on flooding. Until then, we raise the alarm.

I stand with my House colleagues in their courageous decision to break quorum. More to come.
