i was really inspired by madonna’s Don’t Tell Me for this one sonically, and I mixed a drum machine with the recordings Steve did of Jimmy playing real drums to bring this sound to life, and Nancy made it perfection with her mix/master.

the juxtaposition of the two contradicting layers of percussion felt like it accurately depicted the contradicting thoughts that take host in my brain all the time and how they’re always fighting against each other, and symbolically, as a foundation (of both the song and thoughts fed to me at a young age).

i could ramble about this for a long time but i think you should just listen to it

President Trump has deployed the National Guard in DC and is taking action to violently displace and arrest unhoused residents in the city. Meanwhile, our OWN city is quietly enacting the same policies here in Cville RIGHT NOW. Unhoused residents camping on public land along the Rivanna River have been increasingly harassed by police over the past several days. Under extreme heat and rain storms, residents are being surveilled and threatened with removal and destruction of their property. The city is counting on community silence and we need YOU to respond with your voice and your heart:

- Get in touch with local activists to assist in supporting those at the camp with needed supplies, moving help for those who choose it, and countering police harassment with community love. ♥️
- Tell the city NO FORCED DISPLACEMENT. Not here, not anywhere. Residents need housing options that respect their autonomy & choice. STOP harassment by police.

We the Charlottesville Community stand in solidarity with our neighbors at Free Bridge and demand that the city provide:

1- Documentation with evidence that clearly demonstrates the need for displacement.
2- Alternative sites where residents can set up and not be disturbed by police as well as legal written notice to residents that respects their autonomy and allows them ample time to move with dignity.
3- Free and fully accessible housing and storage options that respect residents’ autonomy and choice.
