I live on a sailboat. Not that kind of sailboat. You’re thinking Lamborghini. My reality is more an old Toyota. she/her

More people are going to be murdered by ICE. It’s clear. The tactics ensure it, ICE is getting more furious and being disagreed with or resisted in any way, the verminous administration supports them and has shown they will tell any lie to support ICE murdering people.

2 in the morning and I’ve been on anchor watch. Just to keep and eye on things.

Storm rolling through. 17 to 36knots, but tide and wind are in the same direction so it’s actually pretty comfortable.

But coming up on 2 weeks of big wind and waves & I’m pretty tired.

Looking forward to some calm.

Today 85 years ago British 🇬🇧 forces occupied the Faroes in a race with nazi Germany to control the North Atlantic. Denmark 🇩🇰 was already occupied by the nazis, so Faroese vessels needed some kind of flag to distinguish them from enemy occupied Denmark. Hence this became the Faroese flag 🇫🇴

It is incredibly frustrating when public transport does not run on holidays.

People who ride buses (etc.) need to travel on holidays just as much as car drivers.

We’re left either paying for an expensive taxi, scrambling for a ride from someone, or just stuck.

I was stuck. And very unhappy.

Stop calling it deporting, so MAYBE more Americans will get it. "Deporting" is sending someone back, after due process, to the country they came from, where they arrive a free person. This is human trafficking to a foreign torture prison for the rest of their lives. GET THE LANGUAGE RIGHT.

NASA is something every American can be and should be proud of. And for every dollar spent on it, it returns more on that investment to the economy.
Example: Their 2023 budget was $25B, and they added over $75B to the economy that year.
This is a horrible decision.
The cuts "would kill the much-anticipated Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, an observatory seen as on par with [Hubble & JWST] that is already fully assembled and on budget for a launch in two years." Would also apparently close NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. Huge, HUGE loss for science.
Hey! It's bad! arstechnica.com/space/2025/0...

2/3 cut in astrophysics
2/3 cut in heliophysics
50% cut in Earth science
30% cut in planetary science

This is just such an incredible self-own, what are we doing?

The problem with most machine-based random number generators is that they’re not TRULY random, so if you need genuine randomness it is sometimes necessary to link your code to an external random process like a physical noise source or the current rate of US tariffs on a given country.

It is a blustery and wet evening here.

Time for a fire and a hot whisky.

So much of living life on a boat is about weather.

What is it like? Where is it coming from? How strong?

Yesterday was an awful day because of strong winds.

Today was lovely and calm.

Tomorrow brings horrific wind, but from a good direction so we should be fine.

And such is life on a boat.

It was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

Woke up to big wind out of a terrible direction.

Started dragging.

Massive waves the flipped the dinghy.

Tried a mooring ball, but the line snapped.

Anchor chain got fouled.

Finally securely anchored after 3 attempts.

Today will be better.

So a Scottish town's FB group (where I lived for years) posted pictures from years ago...with the most horrific black face.

And two of us said we're better than this.

It's racist and awful.

And they said.

Nothing.

And now I'm banned from the group.

And the guy who posted is still there.

It feels as though a giant breath has been taken and now I wait for the scream.

It is so deathly still outside, but the weather is coming.

At night, of course, always at night it seems.

It starts in about an hour or so.

Extra lines are out and all we can do now is wait.

I love making a new type of food for someone.

This lovely person had never even heard of Devilled eggs, so I made them some.

They. LOVED. Them! A big hit!

It was an absolute delight to see. Must do this more often.
