If you don't like to wear a costume, just dress Halloween-themed. Like a shirt with a rib cage on it, or devil horns that light up, and earrings that say BOO! I hate wearing a costume but I love Halloween and this is my move.

I would also add, star trek is from the perspective of star fleet, one of the most powerful and well-resourced organizations in the galaxy. Star wars is largely from the perspective of oppressed impoverished rebels who are making due with very little.
