Baker & Taylor shutdown is similar to the collapse of Diamond, but for libraries.

Many are out thousands of dollars in undelivered books and must find new book distribution.

This means longer waits for new books and we approach having a monopoly for library book distribution.

Planning a new social media series where I read comics from my enormous TBR backlog, many of which were gifted by friends, and talk about them. I’ll be tagging creators and publishers, hope you’ll follow along!

It’s a modern librarian’s job to learn at least a little about manga.

Libraries and schools put too much effort into intentionally ignoring superhero titles.

Anyone have a particularly hot comic take?

As people reevaluate their streaming services, I’ve seen a lot of love for free access through public libraries. As a librarian: Please remember this when it’s time to support your library-providing streaming access depends on continued funding for libraries!

A content creator I followed on another app is outing individuals who posted about recent events.
2 of the “random” folks she shared full info about are library workers. Any excuse to come after us.

I wonder if Gavin’s ass gets tired from sitting on both sides of the fence and having to lean every time the wind blows a new direction.

Which work? Calling for gay people to be stoned to death? Blaming airplane crashes on black pilots? Anti-vax bullshit? Election denialism? Pushing Great Replacement Theory?

Kirk’s murder is awful and ominous for this country. But no, we don’t need to honor him or “continue his work.”

“No matter what someone’s political affiliation is, they don’t deserve to get taken out like that.”
True, and neither do: kids at schools, immigrants, marginalized people, criminals without due process…

IMLS just sent out an announcement about a new funding priority and it's....Freedom Trucks. Yes. Literally. Trucks. What a cursed time. Providing accurate and important services for libraries, archives, literacy and knowledge? Nah. Painting trucks with propaganda? Fuck yeah!
Institute of Museum and Library Services Sponsors Freedom Trucks to Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday
The mobile exhibits will highlight the key people, places, and events that gave birth to American independence.

Washington, D.C. — The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has awarded America250, the bipartisan organization charged by Congress to lead the commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a grant to launch six mobile exhibits known as “Freedom Trucks” to travel across the country throughout 2026, sharing the story of our nation’s founding. The project directly supports the January 29, 2025, Presidential Executive Order, “Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday.”

The mobile exhibits will highlight the key people, places, and events that gave birth to American independence, and will stop at local libraries, schools, and community gatherings. At a time when 64 percent of Americans cannot pass the citizenship test, these key exhibits aim to make our nation’s history more accessible and reinforce patriotism among Americans of all ages.

“As we approach America’s 250th birthday, it’s never been more important to teach the next generation of our nation’s proud history and founding principles,” said IMLS Acting Director Keith Sonderling. “Our new Freedom Trucks aim to reignite patriotism, celebrate our shared heritage, enhace local community celebrations, and ensure every American has the chance to learn about the ideals that made our country the greatest in the world. IMLS is proud to have sponsored this traveling exhibit and invite participants to learn more about our rich history at their local libraries and museums.”

Inspired by the VA250 Mobile Museum Experience, the Freedom Trucks will bring history to life with inspiring, factual content, including digital and interactive material. Based on concept of the Freedom Train, one of the most memorable and educational aspects of the bicentennial, they are poised to become...
