South of the border, I see the rag in the ward I work in. Discrimination comes in many forms, so I'll give an honest observation: 90%+ who read The Daily Mail fit the exact stereotype demographic. One of those stereotypes is racism that has been witnessed being aimed at immigrant healthcare staff.

It's because a native speaker would go for the most obvious choice of words, while a non-native speaker would first go for words which are similar in both languages. I don't want to use spoilers, but the clue is the 4th letter.

Having started back when we first populated caves to get it by now.

Our spouse is the only one member of our family that we are allowed to choose freely*, and why would it be wrong to take time to do it well, and maybe even not choose at all if nobody is good enough?
*and it's not even true everywhere.

Thanks in part to @asharangappa.bsky.social, my mother's birth family found her after 55 years.
She was adopted from Japan, they now live in Australia.
They found us through social media, all because Asha asked a question one day about immigrants.
To say it was life-altering is an understatement.
