I’ve never been to Afghanistan, but I’ve worked with many warm-hearted souls from there. Today, I struck an Afghan rug too hard, and its color faded—so I adjusted, proceeding more gently.

I’m furloughed from a job that I love serving some of the most needy people in the country. We have truly changed lives and helped welcomed, vetted, and legal immigrants to stand on their own two feet. So, I just beat the heck out of this rug. It was very therapeutic. Tomorrow, another one.
