Running a self sufficient homestead down south in Portugal. Goats, Chicken and a big vegetable garden. My dream: lots of people in this world that can grow their own food. Check it out on: https://monchiquehomestead.com/monchique-homestead-landing-social/
Today it’s a beautiful day. There has been so much rain the past months. And now everything is incredibly green. After years of drought it’s a relief.

Since we make cheese we’ve got plenty of whey as a by product. Most of it goes to a friend who has piggies. This time I kept some aside for our garden plants. One unit of whey + 4 units of water in a watering can, poured over a vegetable will eliminate mildew. Raw milk works the same.

Happy goats eating greens. It has been raining soooo much and I’m very happy with that. After many dry years and our stream running dry there is finally some relief.

Today my paper in how we could survive in a post collapse world has been published. Spoiler alert, the answers are neither simple nor certain.

Lots of work done in our vegetable garden. Garlic is doing very well (left corner down), beetroots too, sawn carrots are showing and many things more. There is still a lot of rain here down in south Portugal, something we would never imagine to happen ever again. It’s so good for our garden.

There’s the garlic coming up. Better then ever. I always thought that garlic didn’t like much compost, a bit like onions. Then I discovered that they do like compost. So I gave it some. And look: they are doing so well! Always something new to learn in a vegetable garden.

What am I going to do in 2025? youtu.be/xcaN8Kq8YHU?... 2025 is a year when I can do what I want – as technically I will have retired. And what I want to do is make educational videos.
