I did not know until the Wax Trax! documentary that it was not really Ian singing when Pailhead played live the couple times they did 🤣 (Ministry frequently played Pailhead songs in ‘89/‘90) Ian’s telling of that story in the doc is hilarious. As well as how he came up with the song Bad Bunny 🐰

Pailhead Trait remains one of my favorite albums/EPs of all time. Gonna put it on now!

Yup. Uncle Al and Paul Barker, but I saw them all the time at Wax Trax! Records (and my bride’s uncle was friends with them so we’d see them at after parties). Jello was there recording Lard. I always reminisce about those days around the holidays. Thanks for letting me go down memory lane.

Medusas made me what I am today. Still listen to that show every year. But I love rock, new wave, punk, house, techno, electro — all because of those formative years and the masters I go to listen to dj and dance to, like Frankie Knuckles, lil Louis, etc. and all the punk and industrial bands I saw💜

Haha! In Chicago we had Medusa’s. It was an amalgam of punk, industrial, house and techno. From ‘87 to ‘91 me and all my bffs spent every Friday and Saturday night there dancing. My holy grail of shows was there with Trenchmouth & Fugazi 6/14/1990. Jello Biafra behind me the whole show.

I wuld not have thought it weird if it was just the animal rights/veg 🤣 - that’s pretty amazing - and I feel so lucky having seen so many great shows in the mid to late 80s ✌🏻

I always found it weird with the Krishnas shepherding us to Cro Mags in Chicago in the 80s. Fun shows and fun to hang out with after. Just sets my spider senses off when folks are trying to secretly push something. But at least I knew I could divert any Krishna conversation into a Cro Mag talk 💜

You should try and catch them opening for peaches in February/March — you will dance your ass off! And enjoy Cole’s performance!

Were you able to catch them on tour this year? Their shows were fun on the last album. But they’ve honed their performance and craft and the Pirouette shows were soo insanely fun - lucky to have seen them here in DC twice this year - and can’t wait to see them again opening for Peaches

@ollypunk.bsky.social & @indashadoz.bsky.social reading that thread about Minor Threat - reminded me of this post you might both appreciate. Son & I had the chance to listen to Ian & Brian Baker talk about their teenage lives together as part of Brian’s new book a couple months ago.

I was just at a new DC band show called 504 Plan, and they were making shirts with spray paint in the alley the old DIY way. Jeff Nelson stills sells dischord & inner ear studios merch through his website here: pedestrianpress.com/collections/...

I remember meeting Joey Shithead after a show when I was 16 in Chicago in ‘88 - made an impression on me because he told me to keep my head in the books, which I did. Was and still is one of the most genuine folks out there and still talks to his fans young & old.
