Now LIVE on Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/mon...

Asher's Ridge is a GM-less, zero-prep #TTRPG for one to four players, inspired by Twin Peaks, The X-Files, and Stranger Things.

Connect threads of letter tiles and experience the unexplainable in the (dark?) heart of the Lake District.
A copy of Asher's Ridge sits among photos and a map. Letter tiles spell out "Back it now on Kickstarter"

Huge thank you to Sydney Web Fest for awarding us Best Original Score for The Network Defenders!!!

This is our first win for music in our series which is deeply important to us, so this one means a lot ❤️
Text at the top reading "Planet Arcana, The Network Defenders" alongside the Planet Arcana planet logo. Beneath it and to the right, character art of the three main characters from The Network Defenders series - Chaise, Brass, and Snowshoe. To the left, a laurel reading, "WINNER - Best Original Score at Sydney Webfest 2025"

I do love having such a snoozy writing buddy, no matter where I am in the house.
A long haired tri-colour (white, dark and light brown patches) sleeping *hard* on an abstract patterned rug. He's quite large and utterly adorable.

We're still looking for followers on this awesome adventure/multi media project. We'd love to hit 50 before launch!

Especially since I want to buy more art and pay for voice acting from the super talented @meghancaves.bsky.social !

I've been tempted to try bone conduction headphones!

Bodies are way too conductive to sound — may as well put it to use 😂

Oof.

I can only tolerate wearing earbuds when I'm sitting absolutely still and barely breathing. (But at least I can stop wearing them when I need to move -- that can't be done in your case.)

Tonight is both the Harvest Moon and a supermoon.

What better night to let your inner wolf run free and play The Almanac of Sanguine Paths 🐺🌕

(That's my evening plan, anyway!)

Here's part 1 of The Awards Debrief 2025 for anyone who missed it yesterday.

I love award shows. It's no secret. It's why I've spent months writing, refining, and trying to distill my Ennies judging experience.

It's a 4-part series (I know, I know). One article a day. Today's lays out my goals and puts the focus on awards in general.

Alright, the first in-depth article of my awards debrief is live. "How do the Ennies work?" A top-down look at my judging experience from A to Z.

Please share, leave comments, and ask questions. And don't forget to read part 1 if you haven't already.

SPINE’s clock started as the Hangman game, whose gallows are a clock for the grisly word game. But it has an unsavory past.

Instead of gallows, an empty portrait is your clock. You slowly appear in the book as you're absorbed by it. And every tick of the clock is a chance to depict your character.
backwardsttrpg.bsky.social
Some prompts instruct you to advance your clock at the back of the book. This clock is your portrait, and the further you are absorbed into the book, the closer your portrait approaches completion.
As you're absorbed in the book, advance your clock. Image: A clock that resembles a portrait. Inside, you draw your face as you are absorbed by the book.

If you have a podcast or newsletter about solo ttrpgs or otherwise, I’d love to chat about SPINE as well as some of the design questions that led to the game:

How do we play with books in ttrpgs? How do we talk about ttrpg books and why does it matter? How is reading part of or a form of play?
backwardsttrpg.bsky.social
Part of my writing process for SPINE was to write exploratory essays and conduct interviews on design ideas that informed the project.

In SPINE, its book is part of the game, and the first essay in this series explores three ways that we play with books in ttrpgs.

I'm about to get loud about this project for the next four weeks, and I apologize. If you're willing to lend a hand, a simple RT or QRT of the original post would help me spread the word.

Thank you!

It has been so good trying different techniques and having different goals to work to. I feel like I've learned a tonne from seeing other people's approaches, it's been such a good year :)
