SPOOKED

Walking home, alone, by torchlight,
Down a mountain on a frosty, foggy, autumn night;
No moon or stars to guide your way,
Your small yellow beam barely penetrating the oppressive grey.

There are strange sounds abroad, a cough and a moan,
The clink of a hard object hitting stone,
Are footsteps following behind
Or are these vibrations only in your mind.

Suddenly the atmosphere seems so much colder,
A light touch brushes against your shoulder.
You glimpse a shifting shape in the corner of you eye;
Something else is moving, something nearby.

An acrid smell is in the air,
You walk faster; you’d run if you dare,
But the ground is steep and the path is rough
And you don't feel brave and you don't feel tough.

Then you feel warm breath on your neck,
What’s there! You need to stop and check,
You summon the courage to confront your fear
And find you are being followed by a family of Cairngorm Reindeer.

Hello Everyone. Here is my poem for this month's #furrybards. I've taken a little artistic licence with this topic, so I hope you like it.

SPOOKS
Ghosts are sometimes known as spooks,
As sometimes are those who are known to spy,
Perhaps they are trying to hunt down nukes,
But often they are looking to keep an eye.

Secret agents like to hide away,
As they carry out their work in silence,
They dress in black and darkest grey,
And hide behind the garden fence.

They can disappear into the background,
and report your deeds unto their masters,
and sometimes they cannot be found,
as they seek to prevent imminent disasters.

But I, of course, am not a spy,
Despite what many stuffies think,
I've never chased down a foreign bad guy,
Or had a shaken vodka drink.

But yes I'll keep the Aston car,
and drive it as often as I can,
I'll drive it near and drive it far,
and hope I don't get a driving ban.

But now I must get on my way,
as a mission has just filled up my inbox,
What the task is I cannot say,
As the attachments are all top secret docs.

Today is National Black Dog Day, which promotes the adoption of black dogs from shelters, it is harder to get black dogs adopted than others so please think about them when you go adopt a dog
