“As my sufferings mounted I soon realized that there were two ways in which I could respond to my situation – either to react with bitterness or seek to transform the suffering into a creative force. I decided to follow the latter course.”

– Martin Luther King Jr.

I am really naive when it comes to all of this politics global relations stuff. Still, when I heard the Canadian prime ministers speech. I hoped our Australian government actually listens. And stops playing this game of putting the sign out. And appeasing to that which is not ok. We can do better.

A small recollection on illness as a part of human experience.

All quiet on the phlegm front. Happy New Coughing.

Two minutes of looking at the Nick Reiner story, and I feel like here we go again, another failure of psychiatry. Calling us to seriously face up to Akathisia. If you don't know what Akathisia is. This is a problem. The public needs to know. Pharmaceutical companies/psychiatry need to own up.

Now it's so hot we can't go outside.
Still, no climate issue. Who cares about burning more fossil fuels in Australia.

Maybe if we phrased it- do you care about leaving your house? Getting to work? Maybe soon it will just all be online. Too hot to move.

Who would of thought a $19 fan does a better job than a near $1000 air conditioning unit. Thank you fan.

"Sometimes the most radical thing we can do is show up and stay—not with solutions in our pockets, but with our full attention. People don't need us to fix them, they need us to see as much of them as we can, not just the parts they display to survive their current circumstances." Rev Jon Owen

"In The Matrix, Neo meets a young boy who bends a spoon with his mind. When he asks how, the boy replies, “There is no spoon.” The point isn’t that the spoon changes, it’s that Neo’s perception does. What bends is his understanding of what’s possible." Rev Jon Owen, Wayside Chapel.

Mental health policies should address the power imbalance rather than the chemical imbalance.

Beautiful : People with lived experience are not just part of the solution—they are the solution.
Historically marginalized communities deserve care, not cages.
Everyone has the right to live, speak, and be exactly who they are—even if it’s “a little left of center.”

Media should tell our stories. I never hear the media tell any stories of people like me who have moved through psychosis without psychiatric intervention. The Public Guardian, Disability Services, Medical Industrial Complex survive on people not recovering.

This high court ruling that institutions cannot be made to pay compensation to victims of child sex abuse if there perp was not an “employee”. Is simply a welcome invitation for pedophiles to take up more “volunteer” roles etc in institutions where they are even more likely to not batt an eyelid.

What do we do when the truth is so bad we can’t even stomach it? I tried to listen to Fiona Barnetts story tonight, and had to put it down.

Listen to survivors. End the silence. Most people won’t realise when a child in their circle of friendship is being harmed. And most are surprised when it finally comes out someone is a child sex offender. www.nolaughingmatter.org.au/podcast-seri...
