My take is that it's not the system per se, rather it is the people involved. The founders of the USA, for example, assumed that no one would engage in the sorts of nefarious deeds we've seen. I would wager that it was an extremely faulty assumption. There are too many evil people around.

Yeah for sure! This is why I've always been perplexed by the thirst for anti-lgbtq legislation out of Kansas (for example) people I know there have always had a live and let live approach to others.

I'm not internalizing any of this well. I woke this morning happy and ready to go, then found out about Don Lemon and Georgia Fort had been arrested for their reporting in Minneapolis. It seems no one is safe not even reporters. I'm not going to back down or be quiet.
