They are a black stain on the sterling reputation of this beautiful state that I am honored to call home. Now is not the time for wrongheaded appeals to the right wing. They are neither politically expedient nor morally defensible. Quite the opposite in fact. This issue is one of universal human rights. Any elected official would do well to remember that.
