Lovely interview with our new OLH colleague Dr Maddie Sinclair who reflects on the importance of research being publicly available. "As a researcher, I became aware very early on of the structural inequalities in publishing systems, and I didn’t want to perpetuate them." #OpenAccess #AcaSky

Ever wondered why you don't hear more about engagement in arts and humanities research? Esther Lisk-Carew and I talk about how co-production is often business as usual for these subjects and the typical outputs can be more accessible than standard publications. Listen in your podcast app.

Some kinds of data creation can be massively expensive - open data can improve equity in terms of who can do research.

But some kinds of data are easier to share than others- do open data mandates favour STEM over AHSS, where things can be trickier?

Research environments and publishing environments are often segregated from one another, but you can't have healthier publishing environments without (significantly) healthier research environments. That's why I'm super excited that @morphss.bsky.social is underway!

With @morphss.bsky.social we're trying to build a case for openness more as experimentation with different knowledge practices rather than focusing on the end point of sharing stuff transparently. It's about how communities can be open to less-reified ways of working, collaborating, sharing, etc.
