When you're already in bed with your competition, "the cheapest possible shows for the widest possible audience" seems like the right way to go, but that ends up excluding a lot of people who eventually realise they don't owe you shit, least of all their attention

That said, we probably can go back to the days when there were three big television networks that controlled everything people watched in their homes - you know, the 60s and 70s, those peaceful eras of rock-solid social cohesion and stable government globally

I think it's perfectly possible to claim it's both a golden age for discovering and exploring a genre that's alive with possibility, and also that 95% of everything new is basically trash slapped together using digital tools designed to encourage simplistic drivel

There were some other bootleg seasons too but they were all pre s20 - I’ve seen plenty of bootleg Sopranos and other big series but it was the only time I’ve seen dodgy Simpsons sets

Around here if you leave your house after dark *every* tree has at least one bat in it that'll take flight as soon as you walk by, which after a while does start to make you think that maybe Batman was onto something with that whole "striking terror" aspect of his outfit
