It’s extremely disheartening, and I’m starting to wonder whether it’s worth spending time and energy pointing out what’s wrong with Apple’s user interfaces, and so forth.

In retrospective, I think camera manufacturers should have always included an internal memory solution for prosumer and pro cameras. If this D700 had even 1 GB of internal memory, I’d be happy to keep using it like this.

I tried other CF cards. I cleaned the contacts. The CF connector pins are fine. This is the kind of failure that really infuriates me. Everything in the camera works, except it can’t save photos.

You put a good CF card in it, format it, take a photo, the photo is saved correctly (apparently), you take another photo, enter Review mode, the previous photo is gone and the camera tells you the card needs to be formatted.

I got it from a photographer who sold it on eBay. Only 44,000 actuations at the time of purchase. In pristine condition. I always treated it with care. Then one day it started corrupting photos and CF cards.

The D700 is the only full frame camera I have. I love it. But these videos are just a painful reminder that my D700, a camera I thoroughly research before buying, a camera for which I saved a lot of hard-earned money, just stopped working after taking maybe 120 shots.
