Decided to back, small sums, Alonso at 12 for the title and at 19, each way, for Oz. He's very adaptable, which could help a lot. Being the only team with a Honda engine could swing either way.

I haven't really done much super-early betting on F1. But I have had some tiny sums on Williams (46) for the title and Albon/Sainz (81 each, and each way) in Australia.

If the Merc engine is top dog *and* the Williams revival goes well, two evenly matched drivers could bode well. Big if.

Well, almost knocked over a CD tower. Only about a dozen fell out, couple of damaged cases. The joys of being a clumsy sod.

Don't really have a strong view on the F1 engine controversy... except that if it gives us a Vestappen-Russell title fight then that would be no bad thing.

While Undercutters has ended, I did want to have one final look back at how my predictions turned out for the F1 2025 season. Not bad, overall: morrisf1.blogspot.com/2025/12/unde...

Final F1 race of the year. Made a couple of bets: Piastri each way 8.5 and Bearman to beat Hamilton at 1.62. Bearman's looked faster AND has a 5 place advantage. Piastri seems to have rediscovered his mojo. Hoping the race is rather good. And profitable.

No tip and posting the pre-qualifying tosh early due to timing. Tempted by Piastri at 5.5 each way and Russell 11 ew (the latter for for FP3) but decided against those.

Advantage Norris in Abu Dhabi, it seems.

Does McLaren have a double stack phobia? In Silverstone last year they stole a great shot of victory from Piastri because they refused to double stack. In Qatar, they've risked the title by not double stacking. If they'd done so, Verstappen would be out of it.

Didn't see much value in Qatar. Split a stake with 60% on Hulk at 2.45 for points, and 40% on Ferrari at 5.25 to have 1 or 2 cars not classified. Suspect the race will be a procession, sadly.

No Qatar sprint or qualifying tip, following an unexpected sprint qualifying. Piastri's back on form, but it might be too late. Alonso's rather good, and Sainz beat both Ferraris. Again.

I wrote this in 2020 the last time something similar on jury trials was proposed. Every word is valid now. cyclefree.co.uk/12-good-men/. It is a disgraceful proposal for which the government has no mandate.

Definition of a mixed weekend: my F1 prediction was right but as DSQ was post-podium it doesn't pay out. On the other hand, I'm slightly greener on a Verstappen than Norris title. Decent chance Norris wraps this up in Qatar but he'll have a lot more pressure than expected.

Very hard to call the Las Vegas Grand Prix given the huge change in track conditions. Toyed with a points bet on Bearman/Albon but went with Russell each way at 13, setting up a hedge at 2.5.

Let's hope I actually manage to get up at 3.30am to watch it live...

Often avoid betting on qualifying but was surprised Antonelli was 9.5 (boosted) each way for pole. He was narrowly second in FP2 and was on the front row in Brazil for both the sprint and Grand Prix.

As ever, do at your own risk.

I recently finished Peter Frankopan's The First Crusade: The Call from the East. Really good book, around 200 pages covering how and why the Eastern Roman Empire wanted it, and what went wrong. 5*. #Byzantium #RomanEmpire

Blimey. That was quite the #BrazilGP.

Excellent by Verstappen. Bearman very good too. Norris closing in on the title, but Las Vegas could still trip him up. Mercedes were quick there last year.

I've had small early bets on Russell and Antonelli (ew 7.5 and 12 respectively) #LasVegasGP.
November 10, 2025 at 11:39 AM
I feel a tiny bit aggrieved that a Mercedes got top 2 but it wasn't the one I backed, who had an 85% winning record in qualifying... anyway, some (many) #BrazilGP bets:

Main one is on Antonelli to win each way at 8.5. Was good in sprint and quali.

#F1 Backed Russell, boosted at 12 for qualifying each way at the #BrazilianGP.

His SQ3 run was iffy but he'd outpaced Antonelli in both SQ1 and SQ2. Odds are a shade too long.

Interlagos is my favourite #F1 circuit. Can be great in the wet or dry. But I still loathe this sprint nonsense.

Early thoughts are that this will be a weekend for Verstappen to do well, but could be a repeat of 2024 with rookies crashing out if it's very wet.
November 4, 2025 at 8:41 AM
Well, I got almost everything about the #MexicanGP wrong but it did work out nicely for the title. Entertaining race and very solid day for Bearman too. #F1 1/2
October 27, 2025 at 6:53 AM
#F1 decided to back Russell at 3.25 (Betfair) for a podium at the #MexicanGP. Good form, Verstappen was struggling a bit, pit stop priority unlike one Ferrari ahead of him, and scope for overtaking on long run to the first corner.
