This reminds me of BioWare doing something similar in the Mass Effect 2: Arrival DLC where the mercs are all armoured, but the undermesh is so close to the flesh tone that it looks like they're just wearing a fishnet bodysuit.

That's... actually quite atrocious.

I did not have that option sitting in a movie theatre. It went right on my "Very good movie that I don't want to ever see again." list.

Don't think you're wrong there.
I think Sony will hold out for a console, and Nintendo will do their own thing for a while.
Microsoft learned from the Xbox One announce blowback. They're betting the future of Xbox hardware is a 4U rackmount in a data center stuffed with "Xbox SoC" blades.

Option 12 for the Xbox 360 was bugging me, and I've had a chance to poke it some more.
There's the Console's Name set in the System Properties and a Hostname Override in the Network Connection's Advanced Settings. Option 12 is set to the later, and if unset, it will not be provided.

Actually, that even explains the voltage issue observed. Token Rings are/can be "passive networks" that are powered by the attached clients. But, if the clients don't expect more than 4 hosts per ring, then they won't be able to adapt to more. Let alone 4x.

Had to pause the episode and stare in disbelief at my phone when the communication topology of the GameBoy Link Cable was described.
It's a Token Ring network!

Honestly, I always had a feeling that Diamond's operations were a bit seat-of-the-pants, but this is starting to sound positively slapdash.

Where did it place in the Weenie 500?

I did too. Same one. Reported it as a phish. I figure anyone who ever had an account probably got one.
Real question for me is: Just part for the course from the new owner? Or did they flip their list for $$$?

Which is useful going forward as MAC addresses are not something I want to deal with a lot outside of reservations to set hostnames for the DNS registration process. And, even then, I would like to reduce that further.

So, what's this all for? Making it so all the consoles on my network are assigned IP addresses in a specific range. The previous configuration was a mess of hardware (MAC) addresses, Vendor Class Identifiers, and two hostnames (DS and 3DS). This let me simplify it and reduce the MACs.
June 5, 2025 at 5:46 AM
Was surprised by the number of consoles that could provide a hostname that was a value you provided. No idea what's up with the Xbox 360. I'll have to re-check it later.
June 5, 2025 at 5:46 AM
Found that I'd somehow missed that the Wii and Wii U provide a hostname like the DS and 3DS.
I still do not know why Sony appends '\000' to their Vendor Class Identifiers, they don't need to pad the values as it has to be at least 1 Byte (1 character).

I'd say that's about the time I remember chatting with the staff in my local EB Games. And I was the one lamenting that I'd miss coming in to buy new games.
