Trump: They're saying it's low energy. There's nobody there. You can - if you listen, you can hear crickets. So sad. Do you know - did they tell you how many people there were at my inauguration?

ICE officer on tank, looking uncertainly at Noem: So... should we uh... are we still on

Trump loves to call people "low energy" as an insult, he thinks it's a great dunk, maybe he can be baited into dissing the protests that way and accidentally cut all his flunkies off at the knees that are trying to hype up the war zone imagery

President Trump called Portland “War ravaged” to justify his move to send troops to the city. But in the days before his announcement, federal officials tasked with protecting government buildings said protests outside an ICE facility were “low energy.”
Before Trump Ordered In Troops, Federal Officers Called Portland Protests ‘Low Energy’
Oregon officials say the atmosphere outside an ICE building that has drawn daily demonstrations since June has grown worse since the president’s threats.

I think it comes from a salmon

It looks shiny and new on social media, but smoked salmon has been part of Indigenous tradition for centuries. "It’s important for people to understand it: Where does this come from?"

I'm just assuming the audience was not in fact women and migrant workers although I will apologize if it was. But it seems like he's very confused about what people's actual problem with Saudi Arabia is because it sounds like he's describing like Afghanistan or Bangladesh or something

I know this Bill Burr thing is stupid and none of my business really but that's nuts that the line is now that he was performing to oppressed factory workers (metaphorical maybe but still implying it was the lower classes) www.thewrap.com/bill-burr-ri...
"I think the general consensus is, 'How dare you go to that place and make those oppressed people laugh. You f-king piece of s-t," Burr said mocking internet haters when O'Brien asked how he was doing. "I can't believe you went to that place. I can't find it on a map. And this bot said I was upset about it. So now I am. It's one thing to wear clothes made by sweatshop labor. It's quite another to go to the factory and make 'em laugh. I can't believe how much anger I had about this issue after it went viral."

If you think about it isn't a vote merely a 1 or a 0

"Sure most of the people using it now are spammers and scammers and people trying to cut corners or are relying on things it can't do but in the future it will be used mostly by responsible people to do useful things" like how? You're going to find the Wishing Stone? Nobody offering a plausible how

I don't think you can do the "well the technology is actually fine, those people are holding it wrong and you can't blame the tech for that" thing when the majority of users are "holding it wrong" and there's no way to stop them and there doesn't appear there will be any effort to stop them

If it helps this complaint is more about people being long-winded, self-absorbed, and off topic than about having the right moral perspective or being open minded or whatever

I guess to be totally clear I am not asking people to be nicer to Gavin Newsom. I think he's a weasel. I'm just saying that you don't have to preface every post you make about everything he does with "although he is a weasel," or "since he is a weasel," especially since it's usually longer than that

I don't really like how people are interpreting this to mean that you should be more forgiving with your overall judgement. People will say "I reserve judgement" and then go on a long speech about purity tests and big tents. That's not reserving judgement that's just judging passive aggressively
mortalwombat.info
Obviously the point of the story is to say hey buddy interesting question, I bet you give a different answer when you are the guy who needs help and not the guy deciding who to help, huh, but instead it's often interpreted as "here's how to tell who's really your neighbor"
mortalwombat.info
A lot of Christians' takeaway from the Good Samaritan parable is - I am not joking - that some people are your neighbor and some aren't. A guy asks Jesus "who is my neighbor" and Jesus gives a detailed story which means it must have been a legitimate question so the answer is about how to tell

Mike Johnson: "If you're a young, pregnant American citizen women who shows up in an ER and you get treated and they pay the hospital less for treating you than some illegal rabble rouser who came in from some South American country to do us harm, that is wrong."

I wonder how much it would take to get him to write "God Bless the KSA"

Nothing against "a bunch of friends talking about whatever pops into their head about some topic" podcasts because I'm sure some of those are great but it seems like that's just drowning out all the other formats now like structured edited deep dives, radio plays, and more creative formats
mortalwombat.info
It's very unfortunate, because podcasts can be a really great format for some cool stuff, that anyone big that is funding them these days just sees the opportunity as a cheat code to get tv level relevance but cheaper and sloppier and more forgiving to half assing it the whole way through
tmcallister.bsky.social
among other things, a real bummer that podcasts have largely been homogenized into a worse version of daytime TV, just longform video featuring people who know nothing, talking about nothing, for way too long, but also they're ugly and the staging is boring

Some scoops in here: Adam O'Neal is telling people he will helm The WaPo's flagship opinion podcast, spending upwards of four hours a day on it. He's also indicated, per a source, that he plans to remain in his current job for decades. www.status.news/p/washington...

Q: Do you agree that the mayor of Chicago and governor of Illinois should be in prison?

Although I get why you would say it if someone is up for election, like you want to say you're voting for him or not voting for him and why other people should do the same. But that's still narrowed to "I think he would make a good/bad president" not "My official judgement is he is Good/Bad"
mortalwombat.info
"Now before I say it's bad that Newsom vetoed a bill or good that he refused Trump's demands, I'm sure my longtime readers want to hear my final re-evaluated overall score of Newsom and the details of my scoring system..." no they don't, you don't have readers, you're a random online poster
mortalwombat.info
I don't get why people twist themselves into pretzels to definitively say if someone is "good now" or "bad now" before discussing what they did now, like Gavin Newsom. Just say "what he just did is good" or "what he just did is bad," you don't have to enter a score for him, it's not a required field
