Self-Referential: Anna Isabella Christensen definitely takes the art of self portraiture to a higher level than most. Very nice. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2bg...

The Final Frontier: For space nerds (like me) this interview with David Kipping is absolutely fascinating. bigthink.com/series/full-...
Searching for aliens and Earth 2.0 | David Kipping: Full Interview
"Many astronomers are really driven by the search for Earth twins because I think deep down the natural endpoint of this whole goal of looking for planets is to answer the question, are we alone?"

Rationale: Gravity is an immensely powerful force shaping the universe and it's futile to resist it. I remind myself of this anytime I think about dusting.

Valentine Blues: Today is the 35th anniversary of NASA's "Pale Blue Dot" image of Earth from the Voyager 1 spacecraft. Carl Sagan's narration of the image still gives me goosebumps. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRcx...

Cardinal Numbers: I'm pretty good at predicting movie endings, but "Conclave" fooled me. It's an engaging slow-burn thriller with a great shocker payoff. Bravo.

Cautionary Tales: An underappreciated benefit of news media is that it provides us with continual reminders that the wiring of human brains is deeply flawed. Unfortunately our self-reflection and learning circuits are also wonky.

Red Beards' Lament: Tom Robbins was a masterful storyteller whose quirky heroes always made unconventional choices leading to weird and poetic outcomes. "Still Life With Woodpecker" is as perfect and delightful as any novel I've ever read -- and reread. Sadly, Robbins' typewriter is now silent. RIP.

Technospin: Apparently social media network ownership is popular with megalomaniacs. I'm not sure if this is a feature or a bug.

Clickbait: Indignation over nepotism is dumb. Kids with parental support follow their parents into all kinds of careers. Sensationalizing it when famous or successful people to do it is absurd. It promotes social warfare and legitimizes anti-woke sentiment. Let it go.

The Play’s the Thing: Just finished watching "Station Eleven" again. SO good. It presents allegory in a modern and compelling way, with heart and superb characters. Bravo. www.imdb.com/title/tt1057...

Radiance: Failed empires often leave monumental structures as evidence of their existence. Like the Great Pyramid, or the Acropolis, or the Coliseum, or Chernobyl. Some just don't have public tours for a while.

Facts: I find little value in who, when, or where, but what and how seem worthwhile. Why is usually too speculative to be of much use.
