Ultima: Escape from Mt. Drash, a VIC-20 BASIC maze game with a quick Ultima rebrand to make a buck for Sierra. There is really not much to it but it's mercifully short, I got to the end in a couple hours of false starts. A short action break between sprawling RPGs.

On to Ultima III. This is like 75% of the way to being good but it's held back by more grind and frustrating "tactical" encounters. Had to restart a lot. Not spoiling the ending (it's... really something). but I do think the manuals were beautiful, loved the elaborate descriptions of each spell

Ultima II - bigger than Ultima I, but thats its only selling point. Gold grind is a major pain, the world too sparse, the extra planets are jokes, dungeons bigger & pointless. There were wisps of good ideas here and the final battle was tense, but not much else. (I did watch Time Bandits to prepare)

next was Ultima I, already mentioned above. Interesting to find the core of Akalabeth mostly unchanged, the overworld and quest received a huge overhaul instead. The mechanics are pure experimental jank but it was short enough not to get irritating to me. Spaceship part is still wack though lol

haven't been posting these but actually me + pals are playing through the whole Ultima series, one game every 2 weeks-ish. First is Akalabeth ("Ultima 0") which is a simple but focused quasi-rogue-like. I liked the small dungeons, stick figure monsters, and the game loop was easy to get into.

let's just check in on the enduring legacy of Charlie Kirk that the studio was honoring by firing this employee.... oh.. oh hmmm...

a friend pointed me to Wikishirt, which is just a print-on-demand frontend that lets you get any wikipedia page on a shirt. (it works for redlinks, userpages, and anything else it can screenshot the page of lol)

I guess I would just say that "no AI" is presently a useful shorthand for all those things you suggest! "you must understand the code you are writing" + "you must prove you can follow rules" + "show you understand the context of our app" + "you must provably own the code you wrote" etc

this Reddit comment about SNES game "Drakkhen" really got me. sorry to OP, sometimes having a good story to tell is worth $100 though

Youtube added an "inspiration" tab that does AI bullshit to give new suggestions based on your popular uploads. My channel's most popular vids are
* MIDI keyboard demo songs, and
* The final scene from The Lorax (2012)

these completely deranged suggestions it thinks will help my channel succeed

Some friends and I have been reading "The Count of Monte Cristo" (Alexandre Dumas, 1844) on Discord, using a bot to replay the chapters to a thread at the same cadence they were originally serialized in the newspaper. We've been at it 5 weeks... Extremely good way to read this book, would recommend.

good news, you probably already have it (this 256mb file in MSPaint is a ML model for the "magic eraser")

the "neat" thing about AI is that they can spam all of them at once until we choke

found a new thing to get annoyed by on #Wikipedia: the "Game" infobox, for board games, which includes weird fields like
* "Chance" with some original research like "medium-high" (??)
* "Skills" containing more original research like "counting"
* "Years active" ????
Look at what they have wrought

got this one just yesterday. this didn't happen at all in the movie! it just completely invented this scenario AND added "citations", I guess because the secret prompt says "Users will find your answer more useful if it includes links"
