it's especially disappointing when a game you're enjoying fails to stick the ending :(

the period of massive house price growth would have been a good time for them to attempt to answer this
December 24, 2025 at 2:21 PM
after months of not being able to buy volume one, it's back in stock with amazon so i'd genuinely recommend picking it up right now

and while hosing may be cyclical, we're so short of it that seeing the other side of that cycle does not feel like a realistic risk to home builders for a very long time
December 24, 2025 at 11:51 AM
i'm not suggesting that though, i'm talking about how society accepts pretty antisocial business practices and low quality from house builders. if they had to compete fairly then they'd have to properly engage with modern technology to drive their costs down and deliver actually decent homes

monopoly's true sin is that it has the monopoly on board games
December 24, 2025 at 9:18 AM
The idea that house builders deserve particular margins or else they can effectively strike is slightly too easily accepted. UK houses are neither cheaply nor robustly built and there's a lot of room to profit from that instead of letting them continually juice their prices and fees.

December 21, 2025 at 11:26 PM
we've really taken this idea of "a lie that would be the correct answer at a pub quiz" incredibly to heart as a nation and i'm not sure it's exclusively a characteristic of politicians

i think the big question for this is what is the normal ratio for accounted vs indirect water use and does the large number actually reflect a substantial water savings for this kind of facility?
December 19, 2025 at 8:39 AM
large facilities of any kind need some kind of backup power system. i think not having one at all would probably put a greater risk on domestic energy supply from the grid in the case of any failures
December 19, 2025 at 8:36 AM
actually i feel there's maybe a similarity to nicer automata and botw that feels more like it
December 16, 2025 at 2:07 PM
if you can get your hands on it you should buy all five volumes immediately
December 16, 2025 at 1:54 PM
i'm going to miss the brief from the other direction and recommend the out of print manga "yokohama kaidachi kikou" for hitting the same kind of nostalgic notes
